Elegant Entertaining Made Easy

Merillat turns a too-small kitchen into a functional space for a big family.

Designated Work Zones Divide and Conquer

Josh and Kimberly Osburn of West Bloomfield, Michigan love to entertain. But with a narrow galley kitchen, there was no room for guests to gather. So the Osburns were thrilled to learn that as winners of the Today's Dream Kitchen Sweepstakes, they were getting a kitchen remodel complete with countertops, flooring, appliances and cabinets.

Merillat and the TV show, Today's Homeowner with Danny Lipford, along with their Merillat dealer partners at KSI Kitchen & Bath, transformed the Osburn's kitchen into a beautiful, functional space with plenty of room for entertaining. The key was a new kitchen layout that designated separate work zones for a bar, pantry, dining island and home office while visually tying the whole space together.

How This Dream Kitchen Came to Life

It all comes down to smart design. Relocating the sink created a functional work triangle. An upgraded kitchen bar with glass-front cabinets for glassware now faces the new kitchen island with plenty of seating for guests. A pantry with roll-out trays, an appliance garage and a pop-up mixer shelf keep party prep out of sight. And the Merillat® Classic Fusion door style in dark Kona finish ties the whole space together with the contemporary look the Osburns love.
