Can These New Cool Tones Get Your Kitchen into the Grey Zone?

Grey tones remain popular in the kitchen. And why not? Grey is a fresh alternative to white or off-white that takes the color palette to the cool side in a Modern-style kitchen.

Grey is so versatile. It works well with paint and stain, tiles and textures. Grey also accepts a wide range of coordinating colors – even a warm gold or a cool pewter metallic.

Grey can let a cool palette drive the design for your entire kitchen space. Cabinets in light grey set against dark wood flooring provide a high-contrast look. Or you can warm up the room with mid-value wood flooring.

If you love white, but are intrigued by grey, Mist may be the answer. It’s a very light grey that moves the color from a pure-white Cotton to a cool neutral for a more toned-down contrast.

A painted grey finish like Mist helps bring out the cabinetry’s door and drawer styles – more so than stained wood grain. Choose light grey for a five-piece drawer front. Sure, it costs a bit extra, but you get the added value of more drawers – and the paint’s consistency across all doors and drawers lends a more finished appearance.
