Since you´re often working with a smaller
space than most other rooms in the home, it´s worth planning
your bath carefully. But planning can be fun with the options
you have today, especially with Merillat products. Just think
of the storage you´ll have and how convenient it will be!
Follow these guidelines and include storage solutions like these in your plan. You´ll end up with a bath full of convenient, attractive storage space - and lots of it.
"Steal" space from elsewhere.
"Storage is always a big issue in the bath,"
says designer Sharon Hopkins. "Look for places you
can steal space from, such as an adjacent closet or unused
nook that may be on the other side of the wall,"
she suggests. Photo A shows just how much storage can be incorporated into a vanity.
Consider how you use your current space and how you could improve it.
Do you need a clothes hamper in the bathroom? A Roll-Out Hamper housed in a base cabinet might be
just the solution. (See photo B) Want to keep cleaning supplies handy but
think they´ll take up too much space? Check out Merillat´s
Undersink Tote that attaches inside a base cabinet door and lifts out for easy transport. (Photo C)
Choose storage options that are easy to use and designed for your needs.
For example, one of the most popular bathroom features for new homes is a linen closet, according
to consumers surveyed in 2000 by the National Association of Home Builders. But before you dismiss
a linen closet as toobulky for your bathroom, think creatively! Look at how
many different ways there are to store linens, then pick the option that´s right for you. If
you need to save space, install a narrow column of built-in, open Cubby Holes to hold towels, or
consider extending your cabinetry up to the ceiling. For easy access to towels and washcloths,
include Roll-Out Trays inside base cabinets. Or for a semi-concealed look, store linens behind
decorative glass-front doors (Photo D). "Get a specific product listing from the manufacturer
if you really want to design your bath with the exact dimensions of cabinetry and fixtures available
to you," Hopkins adds.
Eliminate counter clutter.
Clutter accumulates easily on bathroom counters, especially
the small stuff. In the kitchen they´d be called
Spice Drawers, but in the bathroom, they´re ideal
for storing nail polish, small perfume bottles, and other
cosmetics (Photo E). Drawer partition kits offer modular
solutions for organizing brushes, hair clips, cotton swabs,
even lingerie. Tilt-Out Sink Trays help keep items like
toothbrushes and jewelry out of the way. These accessories
not only get rid of the clutter, but they help you find
things more quickly and easily when you´re in a hurry!
The easiest way to design a bathroom with Organomics™ is to simply order Merillat´s new bath collection. The collection includes many of the accessories you´ve seen here: Step Stool, Cosmetic Tray Insert, Roll-Out Hamper, Grooming Rack and Undersink Tote.
