Smart Storage Makes the Most of a Small Kitchen

A quick glance around Linda Paradis' kitchen in Stafford, Virginia told the whole story. No pantry. Inaccessible storage for pots and pans. No display cabinets for her antique Spongeware collection. Worst of all? No room to invite the family over or entertain. She needed a custom solution to her small kitchen — and she got it when she won a complete kitchen remodel courtesy of Merillat and the television program Today's Homeowner with Danny Lipford.

The kitchen designers at Linda's local Merillat dealer, Reico Kitchen & Bath, spent hours with her, learning how she cooks and grocery shops and discovering what she most wanted out of her kitchen. Then they maximized the small footprint by increasing her cabinets and counter space, and installing Merillat kitchen storage solutions chosen with her personal needs in mind. "I am ecstatic," Linda says of the result. Her remodeled kitchen has renewed her love of cooking and made family meals and entertaining a lot easier.

The custom feel of Linda's kitchen comes from her carefully chosen storage solutions. Glass-front cabinets, open shelves and a plate rack put her Spongeware collection on display. Appliance garages tuck away items she uses every day. Pull-out trays and a pull-out lazy Susan provide easy access to lower cabinets and corners. And built-in wastebaskets hide the garbage and open up precious floor space. Linda's kitchen is now functional, personal and roomy enough to welcome her family.
