Conversion Kit - Standard Kitchen Base Cabinet

Product Description

The conversion kit includes a new set of outside guides, adaptors, and a sheet of instructions regarding the removal of the old guides and the installation of the new units. They will replace the left and right plastic adaptors. The kit includes hardware for one drawer or sliding shelf. For 24" deep cabinets only. Available in white.

Note: Merillat discontinued the drawer slide brackets. The replacement guides in the conversion kit can be used as a substitute to these older slide brackets.

Product is great! Packaging is very, very poor.

My cabinets were new in 1992. Several are still in perfect working order. I've found the original design to be good if the drawers and sliders are not overloaded. I overloaded a few over the years and they need replacing.

The Good: product. Great improvements over the original design; particularly the plastic mounts at the back of the cabinet. Very good quality, fit and finish. Thank you!

The Bad: shipping. The brackets were shipped to me in a 12" x 24" x 2" box without any packing materials. They had been banging around in the box; several mounts had separated from the brackets. There was little to no care, effort or attention to packaging for shipping. None!

The Unexpected: poor digital experience. It took one full week and a day from date of order for the items to be shipped, which is not a typical (21st Century) experience given all the online purchasing being done these days. It may be because Merillat internet purchases do not represent a significant sales channel for them.

I wouldn't have needed replacement drawer guides if Merillat had made a durable product to begin with. They should provide replacements at no charge like they used to. I am thankful that these are relatively easy to replace, so I gave them 3 stars..

It worked well but was about 1/4 inch shorter than the original. Maybe I ordered the wrong part but I don't think so. I was able to make it work. The cabinets have been in my house for at least twenty years so I don't expect everything to be perfect this far down the road.
Replacement for tray slide

I gave it 4 stars because the original design was changed and I had to buy the replacement in a set of 2, which included brackets and glide rails, when I only needed a bracket. That being said, the new bracket fit in the original hole and my husband had it back together in a matter of minutes. It was kind of pricey considering the replacement parts were $15 plus $5 shipping +tax.

Roll out guide rails

The new guide rails fit nicely in place of the old ones. However, taking out the broken brackets at the end of the old rails was very problematic. They couldn't be pried out easily.

Perfect replacement for the existing slide. The new slide seems to have reinforcement on the end that the other one did not have. The plastic broke from carrying all the weight.

We have Merrillat kitchen cabinets that go way back. We could never put much weight in the drawers without the drawers falling out of their tracks and crashing down onto the next level. And the plastic brackets at the back of the rails would just let go. This was a constant source of frustration. I tried replacing some of the rails only to have the drawers fall off the same way. Frankly, the quality of the hardware left a lot to be desired.

So I recently got some of these new replacements and they work! And very well! The design change in the rail, whereby it now has a small edge folded down from along the top to hold the roller wheel in place, makes all the difference. One wonders how the cabinets could have been shipped without this small edge in the first place. The wheels were free to fall out of the rails. In addition to that improvement, now the pins that go into the back of the cabinets from the plastic piece that holds the back of the rail, are now much better and SO MUCH easier to install.

This is how the parts should have been designed in the first place. But better late than never. They're great now!
